Pegasus is a mythical winged divine stallion, and one of the most recognized creatures in Greek mythology. Usually depicted as pure white, Pegasus is a child of the Olympian god Poseidon. Pegasus was caught by the Greek hero Bellerophon, near the fountain Peirene, with the help of Athena and Poseidon. Pegasus allowed Bellerophon to ride him in order to defeat the monstrous Chimera, which led to many other exploits. Bellerophon later fell from the winged horse’s back while trying to reach Mount Olympus. Afterwards, Zeus transformed Pegasus into the eponymous constellation.

This beautiful silver gold plated ring represents the disc of Phaistos. The Phaistos Disc is a disk of fired clay from the Minoan palace of Phaistos on the island of Crete. Now, the island of Crete is part of modern Greece. The disc was discovered in 1908 by the Italian archaeologist Luigi Pernier in the Minoan palace-site of Phaistos. While it is not clear that it is a script, most attempted decipherments assume that it is; most additionally assume a syllabary, others an alphabet or logography or a calendar, making it one of the most famous mysteries of archaeology. The disk is about 15 cm in diameter and covered on both sides with a spiral of stamped symbols. The disc features 241 tokens, comprising 45 distinct signs, which were apparently made by pressing hieroglyphic “seals” into a disc of soft clay, in a clockwise sequence spiraling toward the center of the disk. This unique object is now on display at the archaeological museum of Heraklion.

A tsarouchi (τσαρούχι) is a type of shoe, which is typically known nowadays as part of the traditional uniform worn by the Evzones of the Greek Presidential Guard. Their origin goes back to the Byzantine times. Originally, various types of similar shoes were worn all over the Balkans, but tsarouchia are mainly associated with the Greeks. They were the most common footwear worn by both urban and rural Greeks, mainly men, but also many women. After the Greek independence in early 19th century, their use was limited to isolated rural areas and nomadic populations. Tsarouciia provide a clear link with the origin of the Evzone uniform in the traditional Greek costume, and with the fact that Evzones were largely enlisted from rural mountainous regions of Greece. The Minoan Palace is situated 3 km east of Malia town and is the third most significant known Minoan Palace after Knossos and Phaistos.
This pendant is in the shape of two bees, or wasps, storing away a drop of honey in a comb and is one of the most famous exhibits in the Herakleion Museum.

The Vergina Sun also known as the “Star of Vergina”, “Macedonian Star” is a rayed solar symbol appearing in ancient Greek art. The Vergina Sun proper has sixteen triangular rays. The name “Vergina Sun” became widely used after the archaeological excavations in and around the small town of Vergina, in northern Greece, during the late 1970s. In older references, the name “Argead Star” or “Star of the Argeadai” is used for the Sun as the royal symbol of the dynasty of Macedon. There it was depicted on a golden larnax found in a 4th-century BC royal tomb belonging to either Philip II or Philip III of Macedon, the father and half-brother of Alexander the Great, respectively.

The double-headed eagle is most commonly associated with the Byzantine Empire, the Holy Roman Empire and the Russian Empire. In Byzantine heraldry, the heads represent the dual sovereignty of the Emperor without Empress for total control and power both secular and religious and/or dominance of the Byzantine Emperors over both East and West. In the Holy Roman Empire’s heraldry, it represented the church and the state. The double-headed eagle was adopted by Ivan III after his marriage with the Byzantine princess Sophia Paleologo, whose uncle Constantine was the last Byzantine Emperor remains the most recognizable symbol of Orthodoxy and imperial state today. The title on the ring is engraved and states: “Πιστός ἐν Χριστῷ βασιλεύς (και) αὐτοκράτωρ Ρωμαίων”. This Byzantine Empire title translates as “A Faithful (one) in Christ’s Kingdom (and) Roman Emperor.” Title had not only national but also a state significance for the byzantine state continued the Roman Empire state and thus believe to hold holy right to govern different nations.
