Snake goddess is a type of figurine depicting a woman holding a snake in each hand, as found in Minoan archaeological sites in Crete. The first two of such figurines were found by the British archaeologist Arthur Evans and date to the Minoan civilization. The double-headed eagle is most commonly associated with the Byzantine Empire, the Holy Roman Empire and the Russian Empire. In Byzantine heraldry, the heads represent the dual sovereignty of the Emperor without Empress for total control and power both secular and religious and/or dominance of the Byzantine Emperors over both East and West. In the Holy Roman Empire’s heraldry, it represented the church and the state. The double-headed eagle was adopted by Ivan III after his marriage with the Byzantine princess Sophia Paleologo, whose uncle Constantine was the last Byzantine Emperor remains the most recognizable symbol of Orthodoxy and imperial state today. The title on the ring is engraved and states: “Πιστός ἐν Χριστῷ βασιλεύς (και) αὐτοκράτωρ Ρωμαίων”. This Byzantine Empire title translates as “A Faithful (one) in Christ’s Kingdom (and) Roman Emperor.” Title had not only national but also a state significance for the byzantine state continued the Roman Empire state and thus believe to hold holy right to govern different nations.

The Vergina Sun also known as the “Star of Vergina”, “Macedonian Star” is a rayed solar symbol appearing in ancient Greek art. The Vergina Sun proper has sixteen triangular rays. The name “Vergina Sun” became widely used after the archaeological excavations in and around the small town of Vergina, in northern Greece, during the late 1970s. In older references, the name “Argead Star” or “Star of the Argeadai” is used for the Sun as the royal symbol of the dynasty of Macedon. There it was depicted on a golden larnax found in a 4th-century BC royal tomb belonging to either Philip II or Philip III of Macedon, the father and half-brother of Alexander the Great, respectively.
