Οι δελφίνια, γνωστά για την ευφυΐα τους και την δημοτικότητά τους, έχουν παίξει σημαντικό ρόλο στις ανθρώπινες κουλτούρες από την αρχαιότητα.
Οι πρώτες αναπαραστάσεις των δελφινιών εντοπίζονται στον Μινωικό πολιτισμό, κυρίως στις διάσημες τοιχογραφίες του Παλατιού της Κνωσού, που αναδεικνύουν τη σημασία που έδιναν οι Μινωίτες σε αυτά τα πλάσματα. Τα δελφίνια εμφανίζονται επίσης σε αρχαία ελληνική κεραμική, σφραγίδες, νομίσματα και μωσαϊκά.
Δεν είναι περίεργο ότι σήμερα, τα δελφίνια συνεχίζουν να θεωρούνται σύμβολα της ελευθερίας, της αγάπης, της προστασίας και της καλοτυχίας.

Το σύμβολο και η δεισιδαιμονία του κακού ματιού είναι μια από τις ισχυρότερες συμβολικές εικόνες στον κόσμο. Τα πρώτα γνωστά στοιχεία για την πίστη στο κακό μάτι ανάγονται στην αρχαία Ελλάδα και τη Ρώμη. Το στεφάνι ελιάς ήταν το έπαθλο του νικητή στους αρχαίους Ολυμπιακούς Αγώνες. Σύμφωνα με τον Παυσανία, εισήχθη από τον Ηρακλή ως έπαθλο για τον νικητή των αγώνων, για να τιμήσει τον πατέρα του Δία. Στους αρχαίους Ολυμπιακούς Αγώνες δεν υπήρχαν χρυσά, αργυρά ή χάλκινα μετάλλια. Υπήρχε μόνο ένας νικητής ανά εκδήλωση, ο οποίος στέφονταν με ένα στεφάνι ελιάς.
