The Phaistos Disc is a disk of fired clay from the Minoan palace of Phaistos on the island of Crete. Now, the island of Crete is part of modern Greece. The disc was discovered in 1908 by the Italian archaeologist Luigi Pernier in the Minoan palace-site of Phaistos. While it is not clear that it is a script, most attempted decipherments assume that it is; most additionally assume a syllabary, others an alphabet or logography or a calendar, making it one of the most famous mysteries of archaeology. The disk is about 15 cm in diameter and covered on both sides with a spiral of stamped symbols. The disc features 241 tokens, comprising 45 distinct signs, which were apparently made by pressing hieroglyphic “seals” into a disc of soft clay, in a clockwise sequence spiraling toward the center of the disk. This unique object is now on display at the archaeological museum of Heraklion.

The trireme was an ancient warship powered by three rows of oars on each side, with one rower per oar. When fully manned, it achieved remarkable speed for its time—cruising at around 8.6 knots—and was highly maneuverable. The first trireme is credited to the Corinthian shipbuilder Aminokles.

The Minoan Bees Pendant, one of the most famous Minoan artworks, was discovered in the Old Palace cemetery at Chrysolakkos, outside the palace of Malia, the third largest and most significant known Minoan palace after Knossos and Phaistos. Chryssolakkos means the “Pit of gold” because of the many precious objects that were found there. The famous pendant dates back to the Bronze Age, (1800 BC) and it’s a stunning, very detailed representation of two bees or wasps storing away a drop of honey in their honeycomb. This pendant is one of the most famous exhibits in the wonderfully Heraklion archeological museum.

Alexander the Great (356 BC – 323 BC), also known as Alexander III was a king of the ancient Greek kingdom of Macedon. He is considered one of the greatest and most successful military strategists in world history.
The specific coin was minted at about 287 BC, after Alexander’s death, by King Lysimachos, one of the generals of Alexander the Great, who inherited the throne of Thrace after his death.
The original coin is exhibited in the Greek Numismatic Museum.

Το ελιαίο στέφανο, γνωστό και ως κότινος, ήταν το βραβείο για τον νικητή στους αρχαίους Ολυμπιακούς Αγώνες. Ήταν ένα κλαδί άγριας ελιάς που φύτρωνε στην Ολυμπία, πλεγμένο σε κύκλο ή πετάλι αλόγου. Σύμφωνα με τον Παυσανία, το εισήγαγε ο Ηρακλής ως βραβείο για τον νικητή του δρόμου, προς τιμήν του πατέρα του Δία. Στους αρχαίους Ολυμπιακούς δεν υπήρχαν μετάλλια χρυσά, ασημένια ή χάλκινα, αλλά μόνο ένας νικητής ανά αγώνισμα, που στεφανωνόταν με το ελιαίο στέφανο από φύλλα άγριας ελιάς από ιερό δέντρο κοντά στο ναό του Διός στην Ολυμπία.
Τα ελιαία στεφάνια δόθηκαν και στους Ολυμπιακούς Αγώνες του 2004 στην Αθήνα, τιμώντας την αρχαία παράδοση, καθώς οι αγώνες διεξήχθησαν στην Ελλάδα.

Το στεφάνι ελιάς, γνωστό και ως κότινος, ήταν το έπαθλο για τον νικητή στους αρχαίους Ολυμπιακούς Αγώνες. Ήταν ένα κλαδί ελιάς από την αγριελιά που φύτρωνε στην Ολυμπία, πλεγμένο σε σχήμα κύκλου ή πετάλου αλόγου. Σύμφωνα με τον Παυσανία, εισήχθη από τον Ηρακλή ως έπαθλο για τον νικητή των αγώνων δρόμου προς τιμήν του πατέρα του, Δία. Ιστορία
Ο Μέγας Αλέξανδρος (356 π.Χ. – 323 π.Χ.), γνωστός και ως Αλέξανδρος Γ’, ήταν βασιλιάς του αρχαίου ελληνικού βασιλείου της Μακεδονίας. Θεωρείται ένας από τους μεγαλύτερους και πιο επιτυχημένους στρατιωτικούς ηγέτες στην παγκόσμια ιστορία.
Το συγκεκριμένο νόμισμα κόπηκε περίπου το 287 π.Χ., μετά το θάνατο του Αλεξάνδρου, από τον βασιλιά Λυσίμαχο, έναν από τους στρατηγούς του Μεγάλου Αλεξάνδρου, που κληρονόμησε τον θρόνο της Θράκης.
Το πρωτότυπο νόμισμα εκτίθεται στο Ελληνικό Νομισματικό Μουσείο.

Μυκηναϊκή Ροζέτα (Ροδάκας)
Η ροζέτα, γνωστή ως ροδάκας, ήταν διαδεδομένο διακοσμητικό μοτίβο στη Μεσοποταμία, την Αίγυπτο και φυσικά στη Μυκηναϊκή Ελλάδα, γύρω στο 1500 π.Χ. Κατασκευασμένες συχνά από χρυσό, οι ροζέτες στόλιζαν ρούχα, ζώνες και κοσμήματα. Με 6, 8 ή 12 πέταλα, θεωρείται πως αναπαριστούσαν αγριοτριαντάφυλλο—ένα άνθος που συναντάται σε τοιχογραφίες και τελετουργίες.
Η χρήση τους σε γιρλάντες εορτών, ως προσφορές σε γυναικεία χέρια και η αναφορά τους σε πινακίδες της Γραμμικής Β της Κνωσού δείχνουν ότι η ροζέτα είχε συμβολική, πολιτιστική ή και θρησκευτική σημασία—πιθανώς σχετιζόμενη με την αναγέννηση και τον εορτασμό.

Θεά Αθηνά και Κουκουβάγια – Αθηναϊκό ασημένιο τετράδραχμο
Η δραχμή ήταν το νόμισμα που χρησιμοποιήθηκε στην Ελλάδα σε διάφορες περιόδους της ιστορίας της. Το τετράδραχμο ήταν ένα αρχαίο ελληνικό ασημένιο νόμισμα ισοδύναμο με τέσσερις δραχμές. Στην Αθήνα, αντικατέστησε τον προγενέστερο «ηραλδικό» τύπο διδραχμών και κυκλοφορούσε ευρέως από περίπου το 510 έως το 38 π.Χ.
Το συγκεκριμένο νόμισμα ανήκει στα λεγόμενα «νέου τύπου αθηναϊκά νομίσματα» που κόπηκαν μεταξύ 166 και 64 π.Χ., και θεωρείται ένα από τα πιο αναγνωρίσιμα αρχαία ελληνικά νομίσματα. Απεικονίζει τη θεά Αθηνά στη μία πλευρά και την κουκουβάγια της σοφίας στην άλλη.
Η Αθηνά ήταν αρχαία ελληνική θεά της σοφίας, των τεχνών και του πολέμου. Ήταν προστάτιδα και προστάτρια διαφόρων πόλεων στην Ελλάδα, κυρίως της Αθήνας, από την οποία πήρε και το όνομά της. Στην τέχνη απεικονίζεται συνήθως με περικεφαλαία και δόρυ. Τα βασικά της σύμβολα περιλαμβάνουν την κουκουβάγια, την ελιά και τα φίδια.
Οι ναοί της βρίσκονταν στην Ακρόπολη, με σημαντικότερο τον Παρθενώνα, που είναι αφιερωμένος σε αυτήν. Η σημαντικότερη γιορτή της Αθήνας προς τιμήν της ήταν τα Παναθήναια. Στο Ολύμπιο Πάνθεον, η Αθηνά θεωρούταν η αγαπημένη κόρη του Δία.
Η κουκουβάγια συνοδεύει παραδοσιακά την Αθηνά και ως σύμβολο έχει συνδεθεί με τη γνώση και τη σοφία. Η επιγραφή του νομίσματος περιλαμβάνει την εθνική ονομασία της πόλης: «ΑΘΕ» (δηλ. «των Αθηναίων»).

Ένα βραχιόλι με νόημα, διακοσμημένο με μοτίβο περιστεριού – σύμβολο αγάπης, ειρήνης και νέων ξεκινημάτων. Στην αρχαία Ελλάδα, το περιστέρι συνδεόταν στενά με την Αφροδίτη, θεά της αγάπης και της ομορφιάς, και θεωρούνταν αγγελιοφόρος των θεών.
