The Phaistos Disc is a disk of fired clay from the Minoan palace of Phaistos on the island of Crete. Now, the island of Crete is part of modern Greece. The disc was discovered in 1908 by the Italian archaeologist Luigi Pernier in the Minoan palace-site of Phaistos. While it is not clear that it is a script, most attempted decipherments assume that it is; most additionally assume a syllabary, others an alphabet or logography or a calendar.

The trireme was an ancient warship powered by three rows of oars on each side, with one rower per oar. When fully manned, it achieved remarkable speed for its time—cruising at around 8.6 knots—and was highly maneuverable. The first trireme is credited to the Corinthian shipbuilder Aminokles.

The Minoan Bees Pendant, one of the most famous Minoan artworks, was discovered in the Old Palace cemetery at Chrysolakkos, outside the palace of Malia, the third largest and most significant known Minoan palace after Knossos and Phaistos. Chryssolakkos means the “Pit of gold” because of the many precious objects that were found there. The famous pendant dates back to the Bronze Age, (1800 BC) and it’s a stunning, very detailed representation of two bees or wasps storing away a drop of honey in their honeycomb. This pendant is one of the most famous exhibits in the wonderfully Heraklion archeological museum.

Dracma was the currency used in Greece during several periods in its history. The tetradrachm was an Ancient Greek silver coin equivalent to fourdrachmae in Athens it replaced the earlier “heraldic” type of didrachms and it was in wide circulation from ca. 510 to ca. 38 BC. This coin belongs to the so-called “new style Athenian coins” minted between 166 and 64 B.C. and is considered one of the most popular ancient Greek coins which illustrate the portrait of Goddess Athena on the one side and the wisdom owl on the other. Athena is an ancient Greek goddess associated with wisdom, handicraft, and warfare. Athena was regarded as the patron and protectress of various cities across Greece, particularly the city of Athens, from which she most likely received her name. Her temples were located atop the fortified Acropolis in the central part of the city. The Parthenon on the Athenian Acropolis is dedicated to her, along with numerous other temples and monuments. The specific coin was minted at about 287 BC, after Alexander’s death, by King Lysimachos, one of the generals of Alexander the Great, who inherited the throne of Thrace after his death.
The original coin is exhibited in the Greek Numismatic Museum.

Η δραχμή ήταν το νόμισμα που χρησιμοποιήθηκε στην Ελλάδα κατά τη διάρκεια διαφόρων περιόδων της ιστορίας της. Το τετράδραχμο ήταν ένα αρχαίο ελληνικό ασημένιο νόμισμα, ισοδύναμο με τέσσερις δραχμές. Στην Αθήνα αντικατέστησε τους παλαιότερους “ηρωικούς” τύπους διδράχμων και κυκλοφόρησε ευρέως από περίπου το 510 έως το 38 π.Χ.
Το συγκεκριμένο νόμισμα ανήκει στον λεγόμενο “νέο τύπο Αθηναϊκών νομισμάτων” που κόπηκαν μεταξύ 166 και 64 π.Χ. και θεωρείται ένα από τα πιο αναγνωρίσιμα και δημοφιλή αρχαία ελληνικά νομίσματα. Στη μία όψη απεικονίζεται η θεά Αθηνά και στην άλλη η σοφή κουκουβάγια.
Η Αθηνά είναι αρχαία ελληνική θεά της σοφίας, των τεχνών και του πολέμου. Λατρευόταν ως προστάτιδα διαφόρων πόλεων της Ελλάδας, με κυριότερη την Αθήνα, από την οποία και πήρε το όνομά της. Στην τέχνη παρουσιάζεται συνήθως με περικεφαλαία και δόρυ, ενώ τα σύμβολά της περιλαμβάνουν την κουκουβάγια, την ελιά και το φίδι.
Οι ναοί της βρίσκονταν στην Ακρόπολη της Αθήνας, με κυριότερο τον Παρθενώνα. Η σημαντικότερη γιορτή προς τιμήν της ήταν τα Παναθήναια, που εορτάζονταν κάθε καλοκαίρι και αποτελούσαν τη σπουδαιότερη εορτή της πόλης.
Η κουκουβάγια, που παραδοσιακά συνοδεύει την Αθηνά, αποτελεί σύμβολο σοφίας και γνώσης. Οι επιγραφές του νομίσματος φέρουν την εθνική ταυτότητα της πόλης: «ΑΘΕ» – δηλαδή «των Αθηναίων».

Είναι σύμβολο της κίνησης και της προοδευτικής ανάπτυξης, της ανάπτυξης, της επέκτασης, της κοσμικής ενέργειας, και σύμβολο του ήλιου. Σπείρες έχουν βρεθεί σε ταφικούς χώρους, σε βάζα, σε κοσμήματα, ρούχα, όπλα… Μπορούν να παρατηρηθούν σε κάθε πτυχή της φύσης, όπως οι παλίρροιες στους ωκεανούς, οι άνεμοι, τα φυτά και τα κοχύλια. Το φαινόμενο της σπείρας έχει εξηγηθεί μαθηματικά από την εποχή του Αρχιμήδη, του μεγάλου Έλληνα μαθηματικού.

Ιστορία
Ο Μέγας Αλέξανδρος (356 π.Χ. – 323 π.Χ.), γνωστός και ως Αλέξανδρος Γ’, ήταν βασιλιάς του αρχαίου ελληνικού βασιλείου της Μακεδονίας. Θεωρείται ένας από τους μεγαλύτερους και πιο επιτυχημένους στρατηγούς στην παγκόσμια ιστορία.
Το συγκεκριμένο νόμισμα κόπηκε περίπου το 287 π.Χ., μετά τον θάνατο του Αλεξάνδρου, από τον βασιλιά Λυσίμαχο, έναν από τους στρατηγούς του Μεγάλου Αλεξάνδρου, που κληρονόμησε τον θρόνο της Θράκης.
Το πρωτότυπο νόμισμα εκτίθεται στο Ελληνικό Νομισματικό Μουσείο.

Θεά Αθηνά & Κουκουβάγια – Αθηναϊκό ασημένιο τετράδραχμο
Η δραχμή υπήρξε το νομισματικό μέσο στην Ελλάδα σε διάφορες περιόδους της ιστορίας της. Το τετράδραχμο ήταν ένα αρχαιοελληνικό ασημένιο νόμισμα ισοδύναμο με τέσσερις δραχμές. Στην Αθήνα αντικατέστησε τους παλαιότερους «οικογενειακούς» τύπους διδραχμών και κυκλοφόρησε ευρέως από το 510 έως περίπου το 38 π.Χ.
Το συγκεκριμένο νόμισμα ανήκει στα λεγόμενα «νέου τύπου αθηναϊκά νομίσματα», που κόπηκαν μεταξύ 166 και 64 π.Χ., και θεωρείται από τα πιο εμβληματικά αρχαία νομίσματα. Στη μία όψη απεικονίζεται η θεά Αθηνά και στην άλλη η σοφή κουκουβάγια.
Η Αθηνά είναι αρχαιοελληνική θεά συνδεδεμένη με τη σοφία, τις τέχνες και τη στρατηγική. Θεωρούνταν προστάτιδα διαφόρων πόλεων, ιδιαίτερα της Αθήνας, από όπου και πήρε το όνομά της. Συνήθως απεικονίζεται με περικεφαλαία και δόρυ, ενώ κύρια σύμβολά της είναι η κουκουβάγια, η ελιά και το φίδι. Οι ναοί της υψώνονταν στον οχυρωμένο βράχο της Ακρόπολης, με τον Παρθενώνα να είναι αφιερωμένος σ’ εκείνη.
Η μεγαλύτερη εορτή της πόλης ήταν τα Παναθήναια, που τιμούσαν τη θεά και αποτελούσαν το σημαντικότερο αθηναϊκό φεστιβάλ. Στην κλασική Ολύμπια θεολογία, η Αθηνά θεωρούνταν η αγαπημένη κόρη του Δία. Η κουκουβάγια τη συνοδεύει παραδοσιακά ως σύμβολο σοφίας και γνώσης.
Η επιγραφή «ΑΘΕ» (Αθηναίων) στο νόμισμα δηλώνει την προέλευσή του από την πόλη των Αθηνών.
Βραχιόλι Αλυσίδα με Κυκλαδικό Ειδώλιο και Πέτρα Λάβας
Τα Κυκλαδικά ειδώλια είναι αρχαία μαρμάρινα αγαλματίδια που προέρχονται από τα νησιά των Κυκλάδων στην Ελλάδα, χρονολογούμενα στην Πρώιμη Εποχή του Χαλκού (περίπου 3000-2000 π.Χ.). Αυτά τα ειδώλια, κυρίως γυναικεία, βρέθηκαν συχνά σε τάφους και πιστεύεται ότι είχαν θρησκευτική ή συμβολική σημασία, πιθανώς αναπαριστώντας θεές της γονιμότητας ή προγόνους. Χαρακτηρίζονται από τις απλοποιημένες, στιλιζαρισμένες μορφές τους και θεωρούνται από τα πρώτα δείγματα της ελληνικής τέχνης.

Ο Ιωνικός κίονας είναι ένας τύπος κλασικού κίονα, γνωστός για το λεπτό του προφίλ, τον ραβδωτό κορμό και το χαρακτηριστικό κιονόκρανο με έλικες (βόλute). Είναι μία από τις τρεις κλασικές τάξεις της ελληνικής αρχιτεκτονικής, μαζί με τον δωρικό και τον κορινθιακό.

Ένα βραχιόλι με νόημα, διακοσμημένο με μοτίβο περιστεριού – σύμβολο αγάπης, ειρήνης και νέων ξεκινημάτων. Στην αρχαία Ελλάδα, το περιστέρι συνδεόταν στενά με την Αφροδίτη, θεά της αγάπης και της ομορφιάς, και θεωρούνταν αγγελιοφόρος των θεών.
