Greek Ancient Minoan Bees Pendant In Sterling Silver. The Malia honeybee pendant was discovered at Chryssolakkos, of the Minoan Palace of Malia on the island of Crete, and is thought to date to c.1800 BC. The named Chryssolakkos that means the “pit of gold” because of the precious objects that the farmers used to find there. The Minoan Palace is situated 3 km east of Malia town and is the third most significant known Minoan Palace after Knossos and Phaistos.
This pendant is in the shape of two bees, or wasps, storing away a drop of honey in a comb.

Αυτό το νόμισμα ανήκει στα λεγόμενα «αθηναϊκά νομίσματα νέου στυλ» που κόπηκαν μεταξύ 166 και 64 π.Χ. και θεωρείται ένα από τα πιο δημοφιλή αρχαία ελληνικά νομίσματα που απεικονίζουν το πορτρέτο της Θεάς Αθηνάς. Η Αθηνά σχετίζεται με τη σοφία, τη χειροτεχνία και τον πόλεμο. Η Αθηνά θεωρούνταν προστάτιδα διαφόρων πόλεων σε όλη την Ελλάδα, αλλά ιδιαίτερα της Αθήνας, η οποία πήρε το όνομά της από εκείνη. Συνήθως εμφανίζεται στην τέχνη φορώντας κράνος και κρατώντας ένα δόρυ. Τα κύρια σύμβολά της περιλαμβάνουν κουκουβάγιες, ελιές και φίδια. Οι ναοί της βρίσκονταν στην οχυρωμένη Ακρόπολη στο κεντρικό τμήμα της πόλης. Ο Παρθενώνας στην Ακρόπολη της Αθήνας είναι αφιερωμένος σε αυτήν, μαζί με πολλούς άλλους ναούς και μνημεία. Το κύριο πανηγύρι της στην Αθήνα ήταν τα Παναθήναια, τα οποία γιορτάζονταν το καλοκαίρι και ήταν το σημαντικότερο πανηγύρι του αθηναϊκού ημερολογίου. Στο κλασικό Ολύμπιο πάνθεον, η Αθηνά θεωρούνταν η αγαπημένη κόρη του Δία. Η κουκουβάγια συνοδεύει παραδοσιακά την Αθηνά. Λόγω αυτής της συσχέτισης, η κουκουβάγια έχει χρησιμοποιηθεί ως σύμβολο γνώσης και σοφίας. Οι επιγραφές περιέχουν την «εθνική» ονομασία της πόλης («ΑΘΕ», δηλαδή «των Αθηναίων»).

Meandros design is a decorative border constructed from a continuous line, shaped into a repeated motif. Such a design is also called the Greek fret or Greek key design, although these are modern designations. One the one hand, the name “meander” recalls the twisting and turning path of the Meander River in Asia Minor, and on the other hand, as Karl Kerenyi pointed out, “the meander is the figure of a labyrinth in linear form” the meaning is that these is no beginning and to end end in some cases so it become the symbol of long life and eternity.

Dracma was the currency used in Greece during several periods in its history. The tetradrachm was an Ancient Greek silver coin equivalent to fourdrachmae in Athens it replaced the earlier “heraldic” type of didrachms and it was in wide circulation from ca. 510 to ca. 38 BC. This coin belongs to the so-called “new style Athenian coins” minted between 166 and 64 B.C. and is considered one of the most popular ancient Greek coins which illustrate the portrait of Goddess Athena on the one side and the wisdom owl on the other. Athena is an ancient Greek goddess associated with wisdom, handicraft, and warfare. Athena was regarded as the patron and protectress of various cities across Greece, particularly the city of Athens, from which she most likely received her name. She’s usually shown in art wearing a helmet and holding a spear. Her major symbols include owls, olive trees, and snakes. Her temples were located atop the fortified Acropolis in the central part of the city. The Parthenon on the Athenian Acropolis is dedicated to her, along with numerous other temples and monuments. Ο Ήλιος της Βεργίνας είναι ένα αρχαίο ελληνικό σύμβολο που απεικονίζεται σε διάφορα αρχαιολογικά ευρήματα, όπως αγγεία και νομίσματα, αλλά έγινε ευρέως γνωστό λόγω της απεικόνισης του στη χρυσή λάρνακα που βρέθηκε το 1977 σε Βασιλικό τάφο ο οποίος αποδίδεται στη Μακεδονική Βασιλική Δυναστεία του Φιλίππου Β΄ και του Μεγάλου Αλεξάνδρου.

Αυτό το μενταγιόν αντιπροσωπεύει το κράνος του Λεωνίδα.
Ο Λεωνίδας ήταν πολεμιστής βασιλιάς της ελληνικής πόλης-κράτος της Σπάρτης. Αναμφισβήτητα, ένας από τους μεγαλύτερους ήρωες στην ιστορία της αρχαίας Ελλάδας. Το 480 π.Χ. ο Λεωνίδας ηγήθηκε ενός στρατού 6.000 έως 7.000 Ελλήνων από πολλές πόλεις-κράτη, συμπεριλαμβανομένων 300 Σπαρτιατών, οι οποίοι πολέμησαν τον περσικό στρατό που εισέβαλε από το πέρασμα των Θερμοπυλών. Ο Λεωνίδας της Σπάρτης έκλεισε τον μοναδικό δρόμο από τον οποίο μπορούσε να περάσει ο τεράστιος στρατός του Ξέρξη. Οι Πέρσες κατάφεραν να νικήσουν τους Έλληνες αλλά υπέστησαν μεγάλες απώλειες. Ένας ντόπιος κάτοικος ονόματι Εφιάλτης οδήγησε τον Πέρση στρατηγό από μια ορεινή πλαγιά στο πίσω μέρος των Ελλήνων. Ο βασιλιάς Λεωνίδας απέστειλε όλα τα ελληνικά στρατεύματα και έμεινε πίσω με 300 Σπαρτιάτες, 400 Θηβαίους και 700 Θεσπιείς εθελοντές που αρνήθηκαν να φύγουν. Σκοτώθηκαν όλοι στο πεδίο της μάχης, προστατεύοντας την πατρίδα τους.

On the reverse side is the inscription “μολών λαβέ” which means “come to get”. This phrase was the answer to Xerxes when he asked him to hand over the arms of the defending Greeks to the Thermopylae. Leonidas was a warrior king of the Greek city-state of Sparta. Arguably, one of the greatest heroes in the history of ancient Greece. In 480 B.C Leonidas led an army of 6,000 to 7,000 Greeks from many city-states, including 300 Spartans, who fought the invading Persian army at the pass of Thermopylae. Leonidas of Sparta blocked the only road through which the massive army of Xerxes could pass. The Persians succeeded in defeating the Greeks but sustained heavy losses. A local resident named Ephialtes led the Persian general by a mountain track to the rear of the Greeks. King Leonidas sent away all the Greek troops and stayed behind with 300 Spartans, 400 Thebans, and 700 Thespian volunteers who refused to leave. They were all killed on the battlefield, protecting their homeland.

Το όνομα «Ήλιος της Βεργίνας» χρησιμοποιήθηκε ευρέως μετά τις αρχαιολογικές ανασκαφές στη μικρή πόλη της Βεργίνας και στη γύρω περιοχή, στη βόρεια Ελλάδα, στα τέλη της δεκαετίας του 1970.

Αυτό το μενταγιόν αντιπροσωπεύει το κράνος του Λεωνίδα.
Ο Λεωνίδας ήταν πολεμιστής βασιλιάς της ελληνικής πόλης-κράτος της Σπάρτης. Αναμφισβήτητα, ένας από τους μεγαλύτερους ήρωες στην ιστορία της αρχαίας Ελλάδας. Το 480 π.Χ. ο Λεωνίδας ηγήθηκε ενός στρατού 6.000 έως 7.000 Ελλήνων από πολλές πόλεις-κράτη, συμπεριλαμβανομένων 300 Σπαρτιατών, οι οποίοι πολέμησαν τον περσικό στρατό που εισέβαλε από το πέρασμα των Θερμοπυλών. Ο Λεωνίδας της Σπάρτης έκλεισε τον μοναδικό δρόμο από τον οποίο μπορούσε να περάσει ο τεράστιος στρατός του Ξέρξη. Οι Πέρσες κατάφεραν να νικήσουν τους Έλληνες αλλά υπέστησαν μεγάλες απώλειες. Ένας ντόπιος κάτοικος ονόματι Εφιάλτης οδήγησε τον Πέρση στρατηγό από μια ορεινή πλαγιά στο πίσω μέρος των Ελλήνων. Ο βασιλιάς Λεωνίδας απέστειλε όλα τα ελληνικά στρατεύματα και έμεινε πίσω με 300 Σπαρτιάτες, 400 Θηβαίους και 700 Θεσπιείς εθελοντές που αρνήθηκαν να φύγουν. Σκοτώθηκαν όλοι στο πεδίο της μάχης, προστατεύοντας την πατρίδα τους.

Αυτό το νόμισμα ανήκει στα λεγόμενα «αθηναϊκά νομίσματα νέου στυλ» που κόπηκαν μεταξύ 166 και 64 π.Χ. και θεωρείται ένα από τα πιο δημοφιλή αρχαία ελληνικά νομίσματα που απεικονίζουν το πορτρέτο της Θεάς Αθηνάς. Η Αθηνά σχετίζεται με τη σοφία, τη χειροτεχνία και τον πόλεμο. Η Αθηνά θεωρούνταν προστάτιδα διαφόρων πόλεων σε όλη την Ελλάδα, αλλά ιδιαίτερα της Αθήνας, η οποία πήρε το όνομά της από εκείνη. Συνήθως εμφανίζεται στην τέχνη φορώντας κράνος και κρατώντας ένα δόρυ. Τα κύρια σύμβολά της περιλαμβάνουν κουκουβάγιες, ελιές και φίδια. Οι ναοί της βρίσκονταν στην οχυρωμένη Ακρόπολη στο κεντρικό τμήμα της πόλης. Ο Παρθενώνας στην Ακρόπολη της Αθήνας είναι αφιερωμένος σε αυτήν, μαζί με πολλούς άλλους ναούς και μνημεία. Το κύριο πανηγύρι της στην Αθήνα ήταν τα Παναθήναια, τα οποία γιορτάζονταν το καλοκαίρι και ήταν το σημαντικότερο πανηγύρι του αθηναϊκού ημερολογίου. Στο κλασικό Ολύμπιο πάνθεον, η Αθηνά θεωρούνταν η αγαπημένη κόρη του Δία. Η κουκουβάγια συνοδεύει παραδοσιακά την Αθηνά. Λόγω αυτής της συσχέτισης, η κουκουβάγια έχει χρησιμοποιηθεί ως σύμβολο γνώσης και σοφίας. Οι επιγραφές περιέχουν την «εθνική» ονομασία της πόλης («ΑΘΕ», δηλαδή «των Αθηναίων»).

The Phaistos Disc is a disk of fired clay from the Minoan palace of Phaistos on the island of Crete. Now, the island of Crete is part of modern Greece. The disc was discovered in 1908 by the Italian archaeologist Luigi Pernier in the Minoan palace-site of Phaistos. While it is not clear that it is a script, most attempted decipherments assume that it is; most additionally assume a syllabary, others an alphabet or logography or a calendar.

Μενταγιόν δίσκου Φαιστού
Ο δίσκος της Φαιστού είναι ένας δίσκος από ψημένο πηλό από το μινωικό ανάκτορο της Φαιστού στο νησί της Κρήτης. Τώρα, το νησί της Κρήτης είναι μέρος της σύγχρονης Ελλάδας. Ο δίσκος ανακαλύφθηκε το 1908 από τον Ιταλό αρχαιολόγο Luigi Pernier στο μινωικό ανάκτορο της Φαιστού και περιλαμβάνει 241 μάρκες, που περιλαμβάνουν 45 διακριτές πινακίδες. Ακόμα και στις μέρες μας η αποκρυπτογράφηση του δεν είναι ξεκάθαρη, καθιστώντας το ένα από τα πιο διάσημα μυστήρια της αρχαιολογίας.

Ο σκοπός και η σημασία του παραμένουν αμφισβητούμενες, καθιστώντας το ένα από τα πιο διάσημα μυστήρια της αρχαιολογίας. Αυτό το μοναδικό αντικείμενο εκτίθεται τώρα στο αρχαιολογικό μουσείο Ηρακλείου.

Goddess Athena and Owl – Athenian silver tetradrachm Dracma was the currency used in Greece during several periods in its history. The tetradrachm was an Ancient Greek silver coin equivalent to fourdrachmae in Athens it replaced the earlier “heraldic” type of didrachms and it was in wide circulation from ca. 510 to ca. 38 BC. This coin belongs to the so-called “new style Athenian coins” minted between 166 and 64 B.C. and is considered one of the most popular ancient Greek coins which illustrate the portrait of Goddess Athena on the one side and the wisdom owl on the other. Athena is an ancient Greek goddess associated with wisdom, handicraft, and warfare. Athena was regarded as the patron and protectress of various cities across Greece, particularly the city of Athens, from which she most likely received her name. She’s usually shown in art wearing a helmet and holding a spear. Her major symbols include owls, olive trees, and snakes. Her temples were located atop the fortified Acropolis in the central part of the city. The Parthenon on the Athenian Acropolis is dedicated to her, along with numerous other temples and monuments. Her main festival in Athens was the Panathenaia, which was celebrated in midsummer and was the most important festival on the Athenian calendar.
