Η θεά Αθηνά συνδέεται με τη σοφία, τη χειροτεχνία και τον πόλεμο. Η Αθηνά θεωρούνταν προστάτιδα και φύλακας διαφόρων πόλεων σε όλη την Ελλάδα, ιδίως της πόλης της Αθήνας, από την οποία πιθανότατα έλαβε και το όνομά της. Συνήθως απεικονίζεται στην τέχνη φορώντας κράνος και κρατώντας δόρυ. Τα κυριότερα σύμβολά της περιλαμβάνουν κουκουβάγιες, ελαιόδεντρα και φίδια. The olive wreath also known as kotinos was the prize for the winner at the ancient Olympic Games. It was an olive branch, of the wild- olive tree that grew at Olympia,intertwined to form a circle or a horse-shoe. According to Pausanias it was introduced by Heracles as a prize for the running race winner to honour his father Zeus. In the ancient Olympic Games there were no gold, silver, or bronze medals. There was only one winner per event, crowned with an olive wreath made of wild-olive leaves from a sacred tree near the temple of Zeus at Olympia. Olive wreaths were given out during the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens in honor of the ancient tradition, because the games were being held in Greece.

Το σχέδιο του Μαιάνδρου είναι ένα διακοσμητικό περίγραμμα κατασκευασμένο από μια συνεχή γραμμή, διαμορφωμένο σε ένα επαναλαμβανόμενο μοτίβο. Το συναντάμε επίσης με την ονομασία “ελληνικό κλειδί”. Από τη μία πλευρά, το όνομα μαίανδρος θυμίζει τη στροφή του ποταμού Μαιάνδρου στη Μικρά Ασία, και από την άλλη, όπως τόνισε ο Karl Kerenyi, «ο μαίανδρος είναι η μορφή ενός λαβύρινθου σε γραμμική μορφή». Λόγω της έλλειψης αρχής και τέλους, γίνεται το σύμβολο της μακράς ζωής και της αιωνιότητας. Ένα από τα αρχαιότερα μοτίβα που έχει διακοσμήσει πολλούς ναούς και αγάλματα.

The tetradrachm was an Ancient Greek silver coin equivalent to fourdrachmae in Athens it replaced the earlier “heraldic” type of didrachms and it was in wide circulation from ca. 510 to ca. 38 BC. This coin belongs to the so-called “new style Athenian coins” minted between 166 and 64 B.C. and is considered one of the most popular ancient Greek coins which illustrate the portrait of Goddess Athena on the one side and the wisdom owl on the other. Athena is an ancient Greek goddess associated with wisdom, handicraft, and warfare. Athena was regarded as the patron and protectress of various cities across Greece, particularly the city of Athens, from which she most likely received her name. Το στεφάνι ελιάς, γνωστό και ως Κότινος, ήταν το βραβείο για τον νικητή στους αρχαίους Ολυμπιακούς Αγώνες. Ήταν ένα κλαδί ελιάς, από την αγριελιά που φύτρωνε στην Ολυμπία,πλεγμένο σε κύκλο ή πέταλο. Σύμφωνα με τον Παυσανία εισήχθη από τον Ηρακλή ως έπαθλο για τον νικητή του αγώνα δρόμου προς τιμήν του πατέρα του Δία. Στους αρχαίους Ολυμπιακούς Αγώνες δεν υπήρχαν χρυσά, ασημένια ή χάλκινα μετάλλια. Υπήρχε μόνο ένας νικητής ανά αγώνισμα, ο οποίος στεφανωνόταν με ένα στεφάνι ελιάς από φύλλα αγριελιάς από ένα ιερό δέντρο κοντά στο ναό του Δία στην Ολυμπία. Στεφάνια ελιάς μοιράστηκαν κατά τη διάρκεια των θερινών Ολυμπιακών Αγώνων του 2004 στην Αθήνα προς τιμήν της αρχαίας παράδοσης, επειδή οι αγώνες διεξάγονταν στην Ελλάδα.

The rosette (rose) is a timeless jewel, symbol and amulet. The origin of the term is the Greek word for rose – rodon (ρόδον). Its use began in the Mycenaean era and continues as far as the 2nd millennia BC. The Mycenaean Rosette is a motif that was widespread throughout Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece and other ancient civilizations. It is inspired by a Mycenaean rosette bead, found at Mycenae, dated to 1400-1300 B.C. The rosette were used extensively in ancient Greek Mycenaean jewels, in architecture, pottery and in sculptures from 1500 BC. Mycenaean rosettes usually had 6 or 8 or 12 leaves, and sixteen leaves during the Macedonian Dynasty. Such details as the rodax shape and the number of leaves tend to vary with the era or beliefs. The rosettes were used to decorate the cloths, the belts and wreaths of the Kings. The number of leaves had a symbolic character each time. The four elements of nature (wind, earth, fire, water), the seven wonders of the ancient world or the twelve gods of ancient Greeks and the world domination and radiance of the Kings of Macedonia. They were signs of beauty, purity, eugenics, worship and power. Rosette or Rodax was probably the most popular and favorite decorative element in Mycenaean era, classical antiquity and Byzantine times.

Η δραχμή ήταν το νόμισμα που χρησιμοποιήθηκε στην Ελλάδα σε διάφορες περιόδους της ιστορίας της. Το τετράδραχμο ήταν ένα αρχαίο ελληνικό ασημένιο νόμισμα που ισοδυναμούσε με τετράδραχμα στην Αθήνα αντικατέστησε τον παλαιότερο “εραλδικό” τύπο των διδράχμων και ήταν σε ευρεία κυκλοφορία από το 510 περίπου έως το 38 π.Χ. περίπου. Συνήθως απεικονίζεται στην τέχνη φορώντας κράνος και κρατώντας δόρυ. Τα κυριότερα σύμβολά της περιλαμβάνουν κουκουβάγιες, ελαιόδεντρα και φίδια. Οι ναοί της βρίσκονταν στην κορυφή της οχυρωμένης Ακρόπολης στο κεντρικό τμήμα της πόλης. Ο Παρθενώνας στην αθηναϊκή Ακρόπολη είναι αφιερωμένος σε αυτήν, μαζί με πολλούς άλλους ναούς και μνημεία. Η κύρια γιορτή της στην Αθήνα ήταν τα Παναθήναια, τα οποία γιορτάζονταν στα μέσα του καλοκαιριού και ήταν η σημαντικότερη γιορτή στο αθηναϊκό ημερολόγιο.

History
Snake goddess is a type of figurine depicting a woman holding a snake in each hand, as found in Minoan archaeological sites in Crete. The first two of such figurines were found by the British archaeologist Arthur Evans and date to the Minoan civilization. Symbol of birth, fertility, death and rebirth not only of humans but also of the universe.

Υποτίθεται ότι προστατεύει όποιον το φοράει και διάφοροι πολιτισμοί πιστεύουν σε αυτό. Ωστόσο στην Ελλάδα είναι μπλε γιατί εκείνη την εποχή τα μπλε μάτια δεν ήταν τόσο συνηθισμένα και θεωρούνταν ότι έδιναν το “κακό μάτι”.

The olive wreath also known as kotinos was the prize for the winner at the ancient Olympic Games. It was an olive branch, of the wild- olive tree that grew at Olympia,intertwined to form a circle or a horse-shoe. According to Pausanias it was introduced by Heracles as a prize for the running race winner to honour his father Zeus. In the ancient Olympic Games there were no gold, silver, or bronze medals. There was only one winner per event, crowned with an olive wreath made of wild-olive leaves from a sacred tree near the temple of Zeus at Olympia. Olive wreaths were given out during the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens in honor of the ancient tradition, because the games were being held in Greece.
